I don't think metal tape was available at the consumer level back then, if I remember correctly. Audio-wise it's much brighter.

PS/2 Keyboards - which ones are you using

I have gone through a few PS/2 keyboards, attempting to find one that would work with the replica 1. I finally found one that worked.

I'm using keyboard with no brand-name.
The model # is: KB-2961

What Brand and Model PS/2 keyboards are you using?

I've not had the time to figure out how variables are stored but I do know that the end of variables pointer is at cc.cd
Variables are stored from LOMEM to the address at cc.cd

HIMEM and LOMEM are commands, not keywords. So you need to set them not in your BASIC program but from the BASIC command line (at the > prompt). Also, they require decimal arguments. For example: LOMEM=2048 HIMEM=4096 BTW, these are the default values that are used if not specified. Also, using thes...

The default Basic user area is $0800 - $1000, until it's changed with HIMEM, LOMEM

I have now built the replica 1 and the Micro-KIM. I built the replica first. Before I ordered the replica I had never soldered anything on a PC board before. The only thing I had soldered was in repairing some guitar cables, and that was years ago. After I ordered the replica, I bought a new solderi...

I went through 3 or 4 keyboards until I found one that worked. It was one that came with a Windows machine I had- plain, no multimedia keys. Also the power switch doesn't really seem to do anything. I'm using USB power I fairly sure that the power-switch only controls the 6v input. \ @ correct

I've been using "6502" Assembler and Simulator on Windows then saving as a "binary program", converting to paper-tape via "kimpaper.exe". It works well with the KIM as well as the Replica 1.

MicroKIM manual error

I found a sentence in the manual that was incorrect. It's in the Paper Tape section. On the Micro-KIM press Q and your program will dump onto the display in a compressed format and Hyper Terminal will be capturing the text into your file. In my opinion it should say In the Hyper-Terminal, press Q an...
