Thanks for the answer, but Wouldn't it make sense to try it as a separate kit, like regular and then a mini version with surface mounts? or would that make thing too complex?
Vince, I was wondering, Why no surface mount components on the Replica 1? They aren't incredibly difficult to install and they take up less space. So I was just wondering, Was it a personal choice, or to not isolate people who have never worked with a heat gun?
I was recently looking around Amazon and I came across this:
It's a cable that converts composite video to a VGA signal, This would be perfect for a VGA based Replica 1 screen.
Apple made this impossible by making a chip and a software update. The chip is so that apple can control what people put on the ipod, the licence from apple costs about 2K.
oh well
-Just Throwing an idea into play- If someone were to make a homemade ipod dock you could use it's pin out to power and interface w/ the replica 1 pinout is here: http://pinouts.ru/Devices/ipod_pinout.shtml with the right setup you could use the usb power from pins 18 and 23 to power it, audio in/out...
I want it on the breadboard first then I will use a solder board.
Ps. I want to breadborad it first to be able to make mods and stuff before I hardline it.
