Re: Paper Tape

Maybe an optical paper tape reader would be easiest to make...
you could make one that doesn't need to be punched that way, so you could maybe modify a little adding machine to print it for you.
Might be a way to go about it.

Re: Altair 8800micro in and assembled!

I've got it set up and running with a battery pack of 9 volts so I can program with the switches on the go, I'll see about doing a serial mod so I can use it with my laptop too. In the mean time I've just been writing little programs for fun. currently I'm working on making a little program of loops...

Re: Altair 8800micro in and assembled!

Okay, I managed to get my Altair fired up today... It worked the first time I turned it on. :D Everything works great, it looks great, and I'm incredibly pleased with this little machine. Took me about 5 or 6 hours all in all to put together, the only break I took was between doing the main board an...

Re: CP/M?

Is there any news on this? I'd really love to get CP/M running on my Altair micro.

Altair 8800micro in and assembled!

Okay, my kit just arrived and I spent all day today putting it together... But it seems that Vince still owes me 2 22pF caps and the 16MHz crystal :( So I can't play with it yet. Otherwise everything looks good to me, I looked everywhere to see if I had the parts, but no such luck. :\ Anyway, #105 i...

Re: PDP-11 clone - laptop?

Yeah, I really do think that a PDP-11 would be seriously awesome as a kit. As it is right now, I did manage to get my hands on a J-11 chip and am working on a clone to play with... I'd still buy the kit though, as I'm sure it'd be full of other neat features that I didn't think to include in mine. (...

Re: PDP-11 clone - laptop?

I think maybe a laptop would be tricky to make a kit out of and probably very expensive, but maybe a PDP-11 replica like the Altair 8800micro? Where everything's in a small form factor and emulated on microcontrollers, since J-11 chips are kinda rare. (though that would be awesome too) I know I'd de...
