Re: New to KIM: couple of questions

You can play Farmer Brown 'fully featured' with a single 6532 if you modify the data from 04 to 44 at address $0224.

Re: Terminal under windows-7

Hello Vince,

this program is really excellent!

The only thing I am still looking for: how about the control characters?

Up to now I am not able to generate a CTRL-L to clear screen for example in basic programs.

Has someone got a hint for me?

Thanks
Norbert

Question about reset vector

Hello, I noticed the following behavior and I wonder why it's like that: There is a keyboard subroutine for a self-built external keyboard in locations $0100 up to $012E. To try it out, I wrote a small main program at $0200 that jumps to this subroutine (gets the value of key depressed). After that,...

Re: 6532 expansion card not working

I found the problem: tricky, there was a little part of solder that 'bridged' PB7 and IO3 ( Pins 19 and 22) under the plastics of the expansion connector.

6532 expansion card not working

When trying to play 'Farmer Brown' I noticed that the second 6532 (in the expansion slot) does not seem to work properly. The game gets a random pattern from location $1704 in the working area of the second 6532. The whole data area between $1700 and $173F only shows zeroes. It makes no difference t...

Re: Expansion board with more slots leading up to new expans

Hello Vince, I have the following idea when thinking about further expansions of the Micro-Kim: how about designing one complete interface board of the same size of the Micro-KIM, 'sandwiched' as the elektuur people did with their Junior Computer? You cold solder the 40 pin connector on the mainboar...

Howto run KB9 Basic V 3.0 on Micro-KIM

I am trying to run version 3 of the KB9 basic and after starting the program I get the question where memory ends. Using the 32k ram card I expect that something like $9FFF, 40959 or -24576 should be entered, but nothing I enter is accepted. Is there a manual for this version or could somebody give ...

Re: Cassette Interface

Today I got rid of a ground loop and then tuned the PLL. I suppose the interface will work with a real cassette tape recorder instead of a sound card, too. To improve the reliabilty it is helpful to put a 8 ohm resistor across the input of the interface to simulate the missing recorder speaker (as m...

Cassette Interface

Hi all, tonight I was able to finish the 'prototype' of the cassette interface for my Micro-KIM. :D First tests in storing and re-loading shorter programs using my computers' soundcard were successful. Problems left for tomorrow: exact tuning of the PLL and elimination of electrical interference cau...

Re: Notes on my Kim build

Hi hsnewman, Iam not completely of your opinion. Yes, I had the same problem with the wrong number of delivered resistors as you had. As an experienced hobbyist I always have got a good stock of components at home, so it was no problem for me. You really often need a magnifier if you are building ki...

Re: Kim Basic (KB9) Problems.

Hi jburke71, have you tried to run a small program written for starting address $6000 (for example) with jsr or jmp instructions in it? You can 'relocate' a short existing program to this address. It is not enough to be able to store single bytes and re-display them in higher memory locations, as th...

Re: 32K ram card problem

The problem is resolved. I had used machine sockets which have a larger pin diameter than the 'normal' sockets. There is quite a thin conducting path running in parallel with one side of the ram module. Its socket caused a short by touching this path. Desoldering it damaged some of the paths under t...
