Re: PDP-11 clone - laptop?

www.sparetimegizmo.com.. A bit pricey though.

I found the COSMAC ELF 2000 a bit difficult to get operating.

Vince's kit are by far better built and easier to keep up.

Going to SoCal

Hmmmm.. Didn't know you were a displaced Californian. I'm from up in the Sierras myself. Camptonville. San Diego... There is a Spanish restaurant in the Gas Lamp district about 2 blocks from the convention center; "Sevilles". Excellent... order the lamb. Well, enjoy the constant 77F and su...

Re: Stan Veit's death

I didn't know Stan Veit, but I did read his book. Well written and not filtered with the hindsight most later history books have on the subject. For anyone who is interested in computer history, especially the beginning of the microcomputer era, it's a must read.

What's in the discuss line at Vince Briel Labs?

I was looking for something in the closet and realized almost a year has gone by. I shouldn't be asking about future projects since I still have my Rev 0 pocket term and 1st run Altair still in boxes. Vince, what have you been thinking about lately. You had mentioned before about work on a obscure S...

Re: Future project ideas

This argument comes up time and time again.... This is a hobby. I doesn't have to be practical or cost effective. Emulation is possible for all machines. It's just not the point... ... Vince has made quite a few of theses machines over the years, I've own at least one of every model. It has brought ...

Good to hear of your progress.....

I'm currently behind on my Briel Computer collection.

Has the computer changed in size/scope? What do you think this computer is going to look like when you are done?

Re: Embedded Replica 1?

Get rid of everything except the I/O port and a way to transfer code. The keyboard is the way to transfer code :-) When I was much younger, I used to spend 4 hours typing in code to a homebrew computer (not of my making) so I could play for 30 minutes and then have to turn the machine off and lose ...

Embedded Replica 1?

Isn't the Propeller set up for USB without a lot of support?
