Re: how about a micro pdp-8

Someone did a PDP-8 replica a while back. Sadly their kit runs are long sold out, but they still provide the artwork, and other necessary info to build:

Re: Build blog

As much as I dread asking, because it only illustrates my own clumsiness... do you think you can provide a stock list for the parts? Specifically the LEDs and the 2 way switches. I'm not sure how it happened (don't we all say that?), but I got two LEDs that shorted out, and one switch that's acting ...

Re: Build blog

If you use too small of a power supply (less than 1000mA) you may run into issues as the LED's suck up power. I think you hit it on the nose  I was using 9vdc 300ma. I hadn't even considered how thirsty those LEDs are. I swapped in a 12vdc 1.6a and that appears to be much nicer. I'll play wit...

Build blog

I had my kit build a week ago, but time and troubleshooting ate up most of my time. There are still some "operator errors" I think I have to deal with, but the general build is complete. If anyone is interested, feel free to look http://www.azog.org/?p=660

I didn't mention it in my blog post above, because it would have been uninteresting. But there was one trick I wanted to share, regarding building the kit and soldering all those switches (thems a lot of switches!). The manual says that you can use a piece of wood or metal to hold the all switches i...

Micro KIM-1!

Well, my first post, but I am glad (and happy!) to say I got my Micro KIM-1 today:

I did order the 32k memory card, but I haven't assembled it yet. These eyes aren't getting any younger, so I need to take a break.
