Nice site, great pictures. Very informative, even TEH end, lol (check your spelling) :) I like this because I never made an assembly sheet for the 32K card. After building the u-KIM it should be easy to figure out, but your page will help anybody needing a first hand look. Cheers, Vince WH4T D0 U M...

Hurray! uKIM is built!

Woo-hoo! Here are pics of the building.

Thank you, Mr. Briel, for re-issuing the KIM-1, and to the members of this forum for answering (or at least taking a whack at) my questions.

...and now it works!

Had a look at the prepared output files in the kimpaper directory on the CD and duplicated that format. EOL indicated by CRLF, no NULLs; EOT indicated by just stopping transmission, no CRLF or NULLs. What finally made the KIM accept my input was setting a character delay. I wonder if this was just a...

Almost running, paper tape format?

Micro-KIM built and interfaced with Linux laptop. Basic commands like ' ' and '.' work when sent down the RS-232 connection. Now all that appears to stand between me and some sweet retro eight-bit wumpus-playing is ability to download the KIM-tape files. I am using a command-line program called asci...

Yes!

Thank you for your advice. It seems that I was close, but overestimated the speed at which the uKIM can talk: 9600 is a bit too much. Settings that ended up working:

/dev/ttyS0
1200 8N1
hardware handshaking disabled
software handshaking disabled

I will post a link to pictures soon!

Serial port checkout?

I've gotten my Micro-KIM together, built a power supply and hooked the lot up with a case. All that's left before I can start using the thing is getting the serial port up. I'm a bit stuck at this point, and would like to request advice. With JP[12] (the one for I/O select) open, I have a nice frien...

Do not do the bugfix on the rev 1 board. The instructions are stated for the rev 0 boards. Rev 1 boards already have the fix installed. Make sure the jumper next to the RAM card JP1 is removed for the 32K card. The ram card handles all the decoding when installed, the jumper gives control to the ca...

New uKIM; rev.1 board rework?

First of all, hello, Micro-KIM owners and discussers! I have recently assembled my uKIM kit. The smoke-test went well, and I will post a link to some photos as soon as I get the RS-232 interface tested and get the thing suitably mounted on a chassis. I am having a bit of trouble with the rework inst...
