88DSKY questions & build S/N 0236 now working

G'day, I've managed to get back to the Altair and now want to build the disk controller. I've had many hours of joy toggling in code via the front panel and playing around with BASIC. This is going to be heaps of fun. The Altair manual was great, thank you Vince. System came up beautifully first go!...

Re: Cross-assembler with paper tape format output

Hi Aart, I understand so no problem. I should do some more work on the self-made stuff I'm currently using. Sadly, I'm not able to run those binaries. Closest is an old PowerMac which isn't set up for serial IO. I've been thinking of re-writing my existing BASIC code over to C. I shouldn't have star...

Re: Cross-assembler with paper tape format output

G'day Aart,

This looks like it'd be ideal for what I'm trying to do. I've been mostly hacking together a limited functionality assembler as I go in VAX BASIC that'll emit paper-tape format. What was this written in? Is the source available/portable?

Regards,
Al

Re: how about a micro pdp-8

I'd be extremely keen to build something like this if it was available in a kit form and had an expansion bus.

I remember stumbling across the spare-time gizmo's site a while back and feeling sad that it wasn't still available. Hurrah for 12-bit computers!

Re: KIM Paper, GUI version

Do you still have the pdp-11 version? I can run DEC Pascal on RSX-11M.

MOS Tech/Microsoft BASIC v1.1

G'day All. Wanted to report that I've finally managed with a lot of help to get MS BASIC v1.1 working on uKIM-1. Re: Howto run KB9 Basic V 3.0 on Micro-KIM

I have merstly the same issue. I converted the data to paper tape format, did the two loads, then ran and was asked for memory size and the system then goes into comatose state.. really not sure. I've communicated with Norbert, hopefully he or someone will point out the (most likely) very simple mis...

Re: Programs from The First Book of KIM

I've been having heaps of fun running these on my KIM.. Thanks for your work guys. Is it worth someone putting an archive of them all somewhere with a destruction guide as to the load'n'run points for newbies?

Re: Create your own Version of Microsoft BASIC for 6502

G'day Hanso, I'm still a little green to this. Reading through your exceptionally interesting forensics site and following the destruction guide I've done the following: 1) Downloaded the .BIN files. 2) Used the KimTape utility on your site (Nice one btw!, Thanks) to create two load images with 0200...

New uKIM build - PSU question

G'day, My uKIM kit, 32k Ram, expander board and 2nd Riot kit arrived. Spent four hours carefully assembling the uKIM and 32k REU board.. Plugged it into a 7.5v @0.9A rated PSU and the power LED lights up and then nothing. When left alone for about 20 mins there is random segments flashing on the LED...
