Front panel switches

I've soldered my Micro Altair quite some time ago, but never got around to putting the chips in and getting it running. Regarding the front panel switches- a flat washer with a locking tab, a lock washer, and a locknut come with each of the switches. How are you using these on the Micro Altair? The ...

I've built one of these recently. It's as close as you can get to an Elf kit, without the Hex display though.

Re: Assembling the MicroKim Expansion board

Well, I don't have that board, but looked for images at Google. Captura de pantalla 2015-04-17 a las 16.59.12.png Here you have the expansion board. Female connector is placed at the rear and the four male ones at the front. Pay attention to those texts written on the board surface, they must be al...

Assembling the MicroKim Expansion board

Would someone post a BIG, clear JPG image of the assembled Expansion board (without the daughter cards connected), as well as a JPG with the Expansion board connected to the MicroKim, with at least 1 daughter card? I was about to solder it tonight, but I don't know where the female connector should ...

Re: The KIM-1 Article consolidation project

An interesting project! By the way, it looks like The Internet Archive has OCR'd PDF's: https://archive.org/details/micromagazine Click on "All Items (most recently added first)", then click on any issue, then select "PDF with text" to download the OCR'd PDF. (Funny observation:...

The KIM-1 Article consolidation project

I've been reading through the back issues of Micro (which has many articles on 6502-based computers) in order to get familiar with the KIM-1 and what people have used it for. I thought it would be convenient to have all KIM-1 articles in 1 PDF, so I wrote a program to split PDFs into individual file...

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

Thanks, lol good to be back. The way the KIM-1 works is you had to choose between the I/O keyboard and hex display, or you could disable it and use a TTY interface. The uKIM is mostly the original KIM-1 so this protocol is the same. It uses some of the I/O that would be used for the display/keypad ...

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

There is a built in serial port of I/O if you want to hook up a terminal or a computer with a terminal emulator you have full screen I/O. This was built into the KIM-1 and many people don't know it. Hey Vince- it's good to see you back! I've recently got my MicroKim built, and I did transfer 1 prog...

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

Hi, 6 KB of the 8 KB EPROM is unused as the (Micro-) KIM has only a 2 KB ROM. I wonder if it is possible to either map the remaining 6 KB somewhere into the available address space (possibly behind 0xa000 to not have a conflict with the 32 KB expansion board) or is there an EPROM expansion board av...

Re: Off topic but cool

Anyone have one of these? https://github.com/SmallRoomLabs/KimCard I do- sort of. I have a Kim-Uno, which uses a very small version of the Arduino Uno, it's even smaller than that credit card. http://obsolescenceguaranteed.blogspot.com/2014/06/kim-uno-kim-i-emulator-on-arduino-uno.html I've actuall...

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

I did accidentally erased my EPROM once and Vince was so nice and help me out by sending the ROM image file so I could burn another EPROM. I can either send you the ROM file or burn an EPROM and send it to you if you like. Note however, if you choose the latter option, it'll come from Switzerland, ...
