Finished Build #303

Ok, I finished everything, 8800, 88-RAM disk, including a pocket term for another project. I used different LED's for the front panel and flush mounted them, added a rs232 level adapter, I had on hand, based on the max232 clone. The only thing I need to do now is to update the firmware. I will updat...

Almost finished with assembly

Well, after a little spare time in the evening over the last 2 nights, I have almost finished. Just need to add some more LED's to the front panel. The worst part was installing the switches. Maybe it would be better to use PCB switches instead of the wire terminal style, that way they would sit fla...

Re: Front LED's size?

Well, I was thinking about using frosted flat top leds and just flush mount them with the panel. Also I might use 3 different colors for the address bus, data out and status indicators. I currently have red, green and blue leds on order, that will give me a chance to test the layout and see if it lo...

Re: Getting ready for the 8800 micro.

I found the specs and theory of operation and schematics here:
https://archive.org/stream/bitsavers_televideoMryofOperation26Jan1981_6262088/Model_950_Terminal_Theory_of_Operation_26Jan1981#page/n72/mode/thumb

Lots of good info to reverse engineer this thing. :)

Re: Getting ready for the 8800 micro.

I do have the schematics... I totally forgot about the clock signal. So, worst case scenario is I will need to make a pic or avr interface to convert the parallel scan codes to a ps/2 format output and provide the clock to it. Should be doable, I don't see a ready made solution on the Internets. Not...

Getting ready for the 8800 micro.

I picked up this keyboard off of ebay for use with the 8800 micro. It is from a model 950 dumb terminal and has a rj-45 connector on the cord. I will either make a rj-45 to ps/2 adapter or just cut the rj-45 off and solder on a ps/2. I'd rather not cut anything off. It has a lot ick, dirt and bromid...

Re: Front LED's size?

Fantastic!

I had assumed they were 5mm, because it is an industry standard, but you never know. :D
