Blue metal enclosures on eBay

I was just looking for project enclosures for something else and I saw these on eBay:

Has anyone tried one of these for their 8800 Micro?

88-DSK build and compiling Terminal firmware

I built my 88-DSK RAM Drive (second run) over the weekend. It probably took just over an hour from start to finish and was a straight forward build. The assembly instructions were brief but sufficient. The upgrade appears to be working well - I've loaded CP/M 2.2 and the Zork disk images and have ha...

Re: POLL: Machined socket or Dual swipe

Having now built the Altair 8800micro and 88-DSK RAM Drive kits with machined sockets, I find I like them more than the dual swipe I'm used to. It took me a few tries before I worked out a technique for reliably inserting into the machined sockets, but the result feels much more solid and reliable t...

I'm using a small variable power supply that I use fiore many projects and old computers. Cost me about $30 USD

Throw in a free 8800micro and I'll take the last RAM drive ;-)

No?

Well, worth a try.

Flag accurate 8080 simulator

I don't know if this will be useful, but Eric aka brouhaha has developed a highly accurate virtual 8080 simulation. He ran his simulator alongside an 8080 excerciser and other machine code programs on a Sol-20 to match the behaviour against the real hardware. He's released the code, with basic conso...

That's great. I'm looking forward to it :)

Changing power-on num-lock status

I've bought a small PS/2 keyboard for my 8800micro which has a notebook style numeric keypad built into the normal alpha keyboard when num lock is set. At the moment the terminal defaults to num lock on, meaning I have to turn it off before I can use the keyboard. Is there a way to change the defaul...

Re: What serial numbers have shipped?

I just finished building #139 - almost successfully. It starts up OK, but I haven't been able to get it to recognise an SD card yet. It was a great build, with excellent instructions, and I had a ball building it :) The only problem was that the 16Mhz crystal and both 22uF caps were missing from my ...
