Why not an ASCII keyboard kit?

I saw Vince made a good deal with WASD and now the Superboard III has a great keyboard.

Since those keys are available, and with the Super Encoder already developed, why not creating an ASCII keyboard replica?

It could be something similar to the Datanetics one :D

Re: Assembling the MicroKim Expansion board

Well, I don't have that board, but looked for images at Google. Captura de pantalla 2015-04-17 a las 16.59.12.png Here you have the expansion board. Female connector is placed at the rear and the four male ones at the front. Pay attention to those texts written on the board surface, they must be ali...

Re: Strange KIM behaviour - faulty 6532?

Well, my issue is solved.

Nothing was broken, I just misunderstood the purpose of 17F7 and 17F8 for setting the Ram top.

Now everything works ok :)

Re: Strange KIM behaviour - faulty 6532?

Thanks for your answer :) Yes, I pressed the "L" key. At first I forgot about that and I was just getting crazy when my uKIM was showing garbage all over the screen. After "L", I got the normal data pattern loading in memory. At my laptop PC, I still have the settings that worked...

Strange KIM behaviour - faulty 6532?

Hi there! It's been a while since I last used my uKIM. I wanted to load Microsoft Basic and play for a while, but seems I'm having some trouble. First I connected it to a serial terminal program on my Mac (plus USB to serial adapter), and it worked well. I tried the "Q" function to map the...

Re: Replica 1 Case(s)

4 years ago, I made a wooden case, inspired on a design I saw at "Back to the garage" book. I don't remember now the owner's name of that computer... Here it is: http://www.zonadepruebas.com/uploads/img44972fb942d64.jpg It includes main board, an ATX power supply I can turn ON/OFF from a s...

Being able to run basic for Altair 8800... Sounds like a dream for a retro-computers user 8)

OOoops! What a pity :( Well, I've been taking a look at Scott Adams' adventures, the average size is about 25 Kb (but adventureland, 42 kb), maybe enough for Replica 1 if a small parser would be included. A good point of those games would be the possibility of loading the complete adventure into mem...

What about a Z-Machine interpreter?

I was wondering if a Z-Machine interpreter could be implemented into Replica 1 to play all those games from Infocom - Zork, Sorcerer, Planetfall, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... I know memory wouldn't be enough, but maybe those text adventures could be loaded by parts using a CFFA or serial port...

G'day! What happened with that port? Still working on it? I was yesterday taking a look to original code by Crowther, discovered last year inside a mainframe computer Don Woods used while at university. It's much shorter than 350 points version, and it wouldn't be a version, but a port of the game a...

Connecting Replica 1 to Apple II+

Hello! Some months ago I purchased an Apple II Europlus, with Super Serial Card, and I was thinking if it would be possible to store Apple 1 programs in this computer (using apple II as terminal). And another possibility... maybe it would be possible to load Apple 1 tapes at Apple II and transfer th...

I'm back :)

Hello back! Because of some personal problems (now solved), I've been "disconnected" for almost a year. Now I'm looking again to this page, and I'm really surprised about microKIM-1. Last time I read it was only a project... and Vince was asking for interested people to help him decide if ...

some questions

I've been reading manuals about KIM-1 and I have some questions: why only 5 kb of memory? I know it's much more memory than the original, but if you could expand over 16 kb, it would be possible to load and run some BASIC interpreters (microsoft kb-9 was really nice, and available online). well I re...

good idea!

it's a great idea, Vince. For me it comes on time, I was planning to build my own KIM-1 clone! :)

Since it uses no custom chips, could you sell only the main board? it's a good idea for those people like me who has thousands of little components at home :)
