Re: Play songs/sounds from a floppy/memory?

Huh, ok. So there is at least a way. I was just hoping for something very low quality. Funny because I had toyed with this idea a while ago, but I am one for coming up with ideas and not so good at implementing them in a timely fashion... :-) So...is there any on board memory on the card you can cop...

Play songs/sounds from a floppy/memory?

I wanted to know, can the mp3 card get data from the apple II memory itself, or does it have to get the data from the usb stick? I realize you probably couldn't play a lot from a small amount of data, but I always thought it would be cool if the card was capable of playing very low bitrate data...Yo...

Re: Apple Cassette Interface Adapter plans

Are you or vince or someone going to be able to test a prototype of the cassette interface with a replica 1 before the preorder period expires?

I'm interested in getting one but I'd prefer if we knew for sure it would work. :-)

There is a program called ADFS (Apple Dos File System) that has been around on the mac for years, dating back to system 7 on 68k machines. There is a carbon version currently. It is open source now as well. There is a sourceforge page, but for more info go directly to the developer site: http://www....

Core Memory vintage computer photo book

I just saw an article about this recent book called core memory. It has a lot of pictures of the innards of older machines (ie pre personal computers) but I'm posting it here as it has a picture of an Apple 1 as well. I don't have the book yet so i can't review it but you can see the Apple 1 picture...

Here is an older mac bitmapped apple II font: http://www.lazilong.com/apple_II/a2font/a2font.html I think I remember a page that had a truetype version of a font to download so you could see the page in the apple II font, but I can't find it right now (the page or the font) and it had a non-obvious ...

This might be another chipset to consider. I don't really know how the pricing compares though: http://www.rcsys.com/chips.htm They did an apple II card called doubletalker years ago as well. The chip will also handle recording and playing back samples as well as voice and some sound. This is the sa...

I might be mistaken but it appears that it's a PLCC chip (The type with connectors all around the outside) so you can get a socket for that.

Hmm, this looks very tempting (with all my spare time :-) )

I have been considering hooking up an AY-3-891x chip to make a apple 1 version of the mockingboard. The programming was relatively straightforward (if somewhat arcane) so it seems likely that sound software from the II could be ported.

porting guide?

I'm looking for info to help in porting code to the apple/replica 1. I'm mainly thinking of assembly but basic info might be helpful too. I'm most familiar with apple II specifics. For example, are there reserved zero page addresses? What about a beagle bros style quick reference sheet for things li...
