Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

CTRL-F6 has fixed my backspace problems. PS what version of mbasic do you recommend please ? BTW, if you want any of the Cntrl-* terminal toggle settings to persist after reset/power-up, you do have to use Ctrl-F8 to save the settings to EEPROM. The only setting that is automatically saved to EEPRO...

Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

Well with the cpm22 image, it seems to work just fine. Once I got it working before, I use the cpm302 image. It worked fine if I left the power on and did a reset, BootLoad. If I turned it off and rebooted, it would just scroll the screen with some error. I took this to mean that the image was corr...

Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

Also to all: If you're troubleshooting any disk expansion problems, please use a CP/M 2.2 system image, as the 2.2 BIOS has undergone the most testing. At this stage the state of development of the CP/M 3 BIOS is still considered to be "experimental", and I'd like to see anyone that's havi...

Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

Unfortunately, hardware isn't really my forte, but it does sound like it could be a data retention issue. If you transfer a disk image in/out without ever powering down do they compare OK? If they do, then I'd think the circuitry between the disk controller MCU and the SRAMs should be good. With the...

Re: CP/M Operations

Once the bootloader is installed, how do I display remaining space available on A or B disk? How do I switch from A to B disk? How do I display files on either disk? How do I remove files from A or B disk? You need to review the CP/M 2.2 manual, as it answers all of these questions and more. The Cl...

Re: CP/M Software

http://www.schorn.ch/cpm/intro.php. Here (SuperCalc) but file is too large? I don't see one on the DVD released with the CP/M module. I assume writing a file that's too large will simply give a "write error" message? CP/M was only a software standard, so any CP/M disk images you find on t...

Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

So it sounds like you never see the CP/M "A:" prompt? Do you see any CP/M boot information displayed on the screen at all? Since you see the disk image transfer prompt when you A10/AUX/PROTECT/STEP then the disk controller MCU is responding to I/O commands. The .DSK image data is checksumm...

Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

I'm having problems updating. With the new CPU: I get the following, Terminal 4.9 Firmware 0.5 and never get the "Enter Filename" prompt. With my old CPU: I get, Terminal 4.9 BootLoader 1.9 and do get the "Enter Filename" prompt. When I enter the "ACPU51B1.BIN" it says...

Re: Hardware - Expansion port etc.

has any one with (5.1) tried to hook up a i8255 etc and blink some leds?? In the mid '80s I bought the General Instrument SP0256-AL2 speech synthesizer and the companion CTS256A-AL2 processing chip from Radio Shack. Never did get around to using them then, but dug them out while working on the (soo...

Re: Hardware - Expansion port etc.

One other minor issue is the serial, will there be a way to disconnect the on board serial once the system is running so it'd be possible to for example load basic from SD then switch control to the TTL lines on the expansion header, to use a real terminal for example? (not that I have any left, I ...

Re: Hardware - Expansion port etc.

as for irq, my idea for the 8515 to emulate the irq was before it looks at the next op code test bit pin 12 if 1 then goto :irq else read next op code i hope it makes cents Yep, it makes sense, but the emulation side is the easy part . The sticky part is trying to come up with a straight forw...

Re: Hardware - Expansion port etc.

Hihi How would I go about attaching a device to the expansion header, I know how to do address decoding and so on but what I don't understand is how this type of I/O works, for example if I put something on port $1F how would it be possible to design the electronics so INP reads the 8 inputs but ac...

Re: New/future firmware open for suggestions ?!?

Hi, Can we have an option to turn off the NUMLOCK at startup ?!? I use a mini keyboard and this have the alfa and numbers on the same key, sometimes forget to turn it off and end up typing the file name wrong. Control of the start-up state of CapsLock and NumLock will be in an upcoming terminal fir...

Re: Terminal & Firmware release

I checked. Unfortunately no bent pins on either chip and the crystal is 16 mhz. Do you think the processor chip didn't survive the shipping? Possible. Email me to get another The blinking "INT" LED and "Connect timeout" terminal message means that the serial port driver of the t...

Re: Terminal & Firmware release

Upon startup, my machine (SN 40) shows Terminal 9 Firmware 9. I am not sure how this relates to the information given below in this topic! Assuming I am not current, where do I get the current software? Current release is 5.x for both terminal and firmware. Even though your version numbers are high...
