For those who couldn't make it, Ken Gagne did a nice write up of his time at KFEST replica 1 workshop. Ken has never soldered and really learned quickly.

Vince, congrats, the Apple 1 soldering story is on slashdot!

This will do wonders for the Apple 1 replica interest!

very quick translation of the french article:

A non-official clone of .... the Apple1

After Psystar and its Mac clones, I present you Vince Briel and his Apple 1 clone.

The story begins at KansasFest, in the Missouri, where an old computer hobbyist group is gathering every year to share their discoveries.

Vince has created an Apple1 kit, named Replica 1. You got it, it has the same component that made famous Magic Woz and "Ipapy" (note from me: Something like Igrandpa...don't ask me). The man sells
the lot for 149$, but you have to build it yourself (88 components without
an ikea manual)

<pics>
The reaction from Apple might be terrible! Beware the lawsuit!
