Burning the EEprom? Help...

Postby Lightman » May Sat 05, 2018 11:26 am

Hello Users!

I have one of the first Micro-Altair (Serial #17) and it works, but I can´t do anything - The Screen say:

ALTAIR 8800 MICRO
WWW.BRIELCOMPUTERS.COM

TERMINAL V 2 FIRMWARE 8

The Cursor blinks... that is all it does.

How can I update the Firmware? Can I burn the EEprom??

The normal way to update (AUX ON, Switches 8,10,12 an 14 ON) doesn´t work...

Many Greetings
Jens (Germany)
eyerything will be okay in the end.
if it´s not okay, it´s not the end.

Hi.

Your 'Terminal' and 'CPU' display doesn't look right - it should show '5.x' for both, where 'x' is a small number - 0, 1 or 2. For example, mine says:

Code: Select all
ALTAIR 8800micro
www.brielcomputers.com
Terminal 5.2, CPU 5.2
VGA VT100

To update the firmware, set the following switches:

Protect: Down
AUX: Up
Address switches 8, 10, 12 and 14: Up

The cursor blinking is a good sign - it means that the terminal part of the Micro is working okay.
