8800micro speed compared to real 8800?

hi there, just wondering, i read some posts regarding 16mhz crystal vs 20mhz crystal. Firmware version 5.2 being much faster than 5.1.

just wondering where the system is currently ( having just purchased one... ). This is more for my interest than for anything else, I wont be crunching numbers or anything

So the question is, with the default 5.1 and a 16mhz crystal, what % of the speed is the Briel 8800micro vs the Altair 8800.
Does the firmware upgrade to 5.2 affect the speed of the 8800micro's emulation in general ( the % number in my first question )? or did it just increase the speed for loading disk images on the 88-DSK RAM Drive.

Another question, when i read the manual, i got the impression that I could not use the sd card for saving my basic programs? and that i could only dump blocks of memory?
( I think i have more reading to do... ) but inf anyone could answer the above questions that would be great.

The product page says "emulating 8MHz processor", so it certainly runs a bit fast compared to the original (2 MHz).

Actually, the 8800micro emulation runs closer to the speed of a 1.35mhz 8080. See viewtopic.php?f=23&t=596

That thread was what I was eluding to in my first post . It's also pretty old with no update. I was hoping there was an update on speed, or perhaps even a drop in replacement AVR running at a higher speed... But it's not important, I would be cool though... Thank you for your reply
