I've got Wil Rodigers FIG-Forth working for Apple 1

I've also ported volksForth (an F83 Standard Forth from german Forth Gesellschaft e.V. to the Apple 1)
http://www.strotmann.de/twiki/bin/view/ ... thAppleOne

The next version of volksForth will include Block-IO over Serial Line, with an "Floppy-Emulator" running under volksForth Atari ST, CP/M or MS-DOS on the other end of the serial cable.

It will then be possible to load and save Forth Code and Screens/Blocks.

With this version, you need to write a short Forth word that is dumping the memory content in Hex to the screen and capture this output with a terminal program on the PC.

Carsten,

I've been looking for a build of volksForth for the Apple 1, as I've now seen several references to it. Your post here seems to be most promising, but I'm afraid your link is outdated and I was unable to find any relevant Apple 1 related info on your new wiki. Please let me know if you can help me find volksForth, Apple 1 edition.

Thanks,
Jon

Hello Jon,

yes, sorry, I forgot to migrate the Apple 1 source to the new Wiki. I have now uploaded a new distribution file to the forth-ev Website (http://www.forth-ev.de/filemgmt/viewcat.php?cid=5). I will also upload the distribution file to the SourceForge file area next week.

The distribution contains a hexfile for upload to the Apple 1 monitor. There are not I/O commands available, but it should be possible to create a simple Forth-Block based serial I/O system with a PC hosted Forth (like GNUForth or volksForth MS-DOS). I can also compile the sources using the volksForth Atari ST target compiler (using the HATARI emulator). I'm working on getting the 6502 based target compiler working again, as well as the MS-DOS and CP/M based target compilers. So much to do.

I'm pretty much workin 'on demand' on volksForth. If you have any requirements or questions, please let me know. You can reach me at carsten@strotmann.de

I also have FIG-Forth, my own x-Forth and gforth-ec for the Apple 1, in various stages of completion.
