Microsoft BASIC and back space

Ok, so just like the Apple 1, Microsoft BASIC doesn't have a backspace. What it does is looks for _ and does a backspace when that character is typed.

I can mod the propeller terminal code so when a backspace is pressed, a _ is transmitted. This would make it appear to be a normal backspace function when pressed. This would be a feature you can turn on/off. What do you think of this idea?

I think it's a fantastic idea, particularly with the ability to turn the feature on or off. I think most of us are so trained to backspace these days, that it would be a shame not to have it send the _ command.

I think I want this just because I've been playing with my new toy and it can be annoying if you forget.

I found 5 minutes to do this today and man, I'm happy. You actually can type the backspace key to backspace! CTRL-F4 turns this feature on or off.

The question now is, should I make backspace key default on power up?

I think you should enable it on startup. It's not like you can't do the original command anyway, right, so it's not like you're disabling features, you're just adding one. It's almost like a logical .1 update to the software with zero repercussions.

I think this is a good idea. The flexibility to turn on/off solves both sides.

It is kind of like the F-key functions in PocketTerm.

I agree, good idea to be the default, but switchable. I say keep it.
