Vince, This source code for the Prop allows 40x24 text display on a TV (the source is written for NTSC but it's easy enough to change it to PAL if needed). Of course it can do color if you want. http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&p=1&m=220192 Using the Prop as the video term...

Here's some switches on Digi-Key. Their all in the same series and I didn't look to see what the differences are in the datasheet, but their all made for use in keyboards and 86 cents USD each. Also no minimum order.

I found the voltages for PAL TV inputs and made a chart for you: RGB - Highest Intensity: 0.7V - Lowest Intensity: 0V Composite - Highest Intensity: 1.0V - Lowest Intensity: 0.3V Sync (for both) - 0V Enjoy! :) -iam

I still say we should use an 8088 instead... especially if we basically just copy the terminal interface. We don't want to make a Replica-1-Replica.

http://www.sbprojects.com/projects/apple1/aci.htm ^ Perhaps you'll want to try assembling the source code on the page linked too above and see if the code works. As Jeroen said it's possible that the files you used were dumped from chips that had been through some form of bit rot. That actually seem...

In theory your first idea should work and is probably easiest. Remember to put a resistor on the video line so not too much voltage is sent into the G pin (it expects the voltage to be 1/3 of what your sending into it I think...)

I thought that Vince used the source code written by Woz on paper, and assembled. It could very well just be small translation error.

It seems most logical to think it's a firmware problem. Also, daustin seems to be on to something with metal tape not working. It does a better job of capturing all the high frequencies, which Woz said need to be rolled off. I haven't looked at your schematics, but have you put a low-pass filter on ...
