Re: first birthday of my order !!!

I'm in the same boat. I'd like to order a kit too. But I got an uneasy feeling when it took forever for my Micro-Kim and Replica-1 to ship. It's a shame. They were really nice kits and I'm sure the Superboard III would have been just as nice.

Re: 3rd-Party add-on boards for the KIM-1

I have the memory and I/O boards. They look pretty nice and went together well. But, I haven't tried them yet in my Kim-1. Always too many other things going on.

Re: Connecting a Floppy Drive

Well in all of my "spare" time, I've been slowly looking over what it would take to do some kind of floppy interface but using disk images instead of a real floppy. So far, its been digging through the ROM's floppy boot code, documenting it ( that part is done ), and now started on HexDos'...

Re: expansion card ?

I'll throw in my two cents. If someone does do something like a floppy interface, it would be nice if it would work with the original Superboards too. Such as a daughter card that plugs into the CPU socket and the CPU then gets plugged into the daughter card.

Re: We will be unable to fill orders July 12-July 25th.

The only thing I can tell you is to be VERY patient. You will get your kit. It just might take a while. Try touching base with him next month.

Re: Connecting a Floppy Drive

Yep, I sort of looked into doing a SD card interface too. Like you said, no time. Plus I have too many hobbies like Ham SDR. Emulating the 610 interface would be good so we could run the original software. But for actual use, we could probably do better. Sort of looking forward to eventually retirin...

Re: Connecting a Floppy Drive

I've love to be able to hook one up to my original Superboard or if I ever order one a Superboard III. One thing I thought about in the meantime was interfacing a VDip1 to it using a propeller to do the heavy lifting. I.e. map some memory and firmware for the Superboard to use to access the thumb dr...

Re: MakerFaire 2015 Bay Area

Hope you have fun there!

I'd love to attend one myself but there are any close to where I live. With work and kids, it's hard to take off and make the road trip. One of my retirement to-do list things :)

Re: Rumors of Vince's demise...

Nice to hear the aliens took it easy on him. Things like this reminds me of the South Park episode with Cartman and his alien experiences :)

Re: The KIM-1 Article consolidation project

I just broke down and did them one at a time. It didn't really take that long once I got into a rhythm.

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

Well I'm not the proud owner of a Micro-Kim kit ( replica 1 too ). Time to get started building.:) One thing I'm going to do is see if my EPROM programmer will read the one in the kit and make a backup image of it. Both the Replica-1 and the MicroKim use EPROMs whose images are available online. No...

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

I've been reading along with this. This discussion has been giving me ideas. I need to check out those GIT project and dig into the code. I'm sure it will give me even more ideas. Now if I just had the time to follow up with them!

Re: Micro-KIM EPROM expansion?

I'd go with the tiny basic. Or compile the basic for an OSI superboard, since it's pretty generic. That OSI would just need changes for made keyboard/screen character I/O.
