Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

I was also a victim of the board shorting out. I put a little double-sided tape underneath and all is working well. The battery box is a little wonky. Make sure the batteries seat well and that you are seeing 4+ volts at the board with the power supply disconnected, otherwise your RAM disks won't be...

Re: Disk Controller board beta run preorders!

Hi I received my kit today. My firmware (CPU and Terminal) was pretty old (v.2). Vince included a new CPU pre-flashed to 5.1. As Vince stated earlier update the Terminal to 5.1 with the new firmware file on the CD (TERM51B1.BIN), then replace the existing CPU with the new CPU. On restart both are sh...

Re: Lights in RUN mode

I would think you are seeing the address and data lines as instructions are executed. You should also see some of the status lines.

Re: Kit Built!

Well, I got the main pcb finished tonight. I will work on the panel tomorrow. I thought I would power it up without any chips just to check voltages. I see power at the jack, power on the back of the diode, but nothing coming in or out of the regulators. HMMM. Took me an hour before I realized the p...

Re: Altair 8800 Micro Project Status

Hey Vince! I was just re-reading some of the thread and had a question. When you say "Because of the added overhead of the rear panel, I will not be including an SD card" are you indicating that there will be no SD/interface or that you are simply not supplying a blank card to be used? I w...

Re: Yet another Altair 8800 PC

I had looked at this awhile back. Maybe I misunderstood but the panel really has nothing to do with the operation of the computer and is driven, more or less, randomly?

Still, it looks good.

I think this is a good idea. The flexibility to turn on/off solves both sides.

It is kind of like the F-key functions in PocketTerm.

Vince,

Great news and progress! I'm glad you were able to re-evaluate the switches. I think this will make a significant difference and, like you said, keeps it vintage.

Watching the YouTube video brought back memories.
