What is the address in the last byte of the ROM? (type FFFE.FFFF in the Woz monitor)

I'd expect the voltage drop on a 7805 to be around 2V (meaning you should really be putting in 7V+ to get a properly regulated 5V), but my Replica is older than the SE so I don't know the specific part used. 100ms character delay sounds excessive. When not using the ACIA-based serial port, I run qui...

Krusader 1.3 released

As promised - Krusader 1.3 is now available for download from my website.

I strongly recommend upgrading your ROM to this new version since the additional command giving access to the Woz monitor from the mini-monitor is extremely useful when writing and debugging assembly code.

Actually, I've just had the very obvious thought that this new ! command is not only useful in the minimonitor, but also in the assembler shell. So I have decided to include it there as well, and will release the whole new package as version 1.3 sometime today.

Factorial 4776 has 15500 digits exactly, so looks like you are only half way through! :-)

This sounds very like a problem I have sometimes. Occasionally after startup I need to "reset" the keyboard. For this reason I keep a pushbutton attached to the keyboard jumper so I just have to give it a click and everything works fine.

In conjunction with my update of Krusader to version 1.2.3 (described in another post) I will be updating the Krusader Toolkit. It now uses RXTX for serial communications by default, so the configuration hassles described in my previous message are no longer a problem. There are a few bug fixes in t...

Krusader update to 1.2.3 - new feature

I have updated Krusader to version 1.2.3. This release includes a couple of small changes in behaviour - specifically source listing and disassemblies both continue until a key is pressed. (Previously the source listing was paged and the disassembly 20 lines at a time.) But the main change is the ad...

I hope you are patient. :-)

You could rem out the value printing code to speed things up a great deal.

Well it's made it to factorial 340 without problem now. (I verified the result with Mathematica) I think the only limits now are P < 32767 and maybe the 960 characters to display on the screen :) 340!= 5100864472103711080930193283927293363034 4671982885376039468582437981130708498852 2921313637295464...

OK - I've worked out what's going on here. Try this variant: 1 REM CALCULATION OF FACTORIALS 2 REM PORTED FROM ALTAIR VTL-2 3 REM BY MIKE PENZO DEC 9, 2007 4 DIM A(500) 5 FOR I=1 TO 500 6 LET A(I)=0 8 NEXT I 10 LET P=1 20 LET L=2 30 LET A(1)=1 40 LET I=2 50 LET A(I)=0...

This is really quite impressive.

Do you have a reference to the actual algorithm being employed? It will not be easy to reverse engineer the BASIC code and work out how to overcome the 32K limitation.

I tried this as well, and now I get a much stronger, clearer picture on my IIc monitor and Monitor II. However, the sync is still not perfect - with the IIc monitor there is still a bit of unsteadiness, and with the Monitor II, although clear and steady, the picture is about 1 character off the scre...
