My Kit Arrived

After almost giving up hope, the Superboard III kit that I ordered in early August arrived in the mail this week. It seems to be complete with all parts. I hope this means that Vince is getting back to shipping out orders for this and other products. I'll report more here as I put the kit together. ...

Ben Heck's Apple 1 Replica

The Ben Heck Show YouTube channel is doing a series on building an Apple 1 Replica. It's very similar to the Briel Replica. The first two instalments have been posted:

I bought a Superboard II in 1981 from Exceltronix in Toronto, Canada. It was my first computer and I learned a lot from it. I came across the original Exceltronix ad for it from the May 1981 issue of Electronics Today magazine. At the time it was the lowest cost complete computer that you could buy,...

Re: FYI: Briel Altair 8800 YouTube Videos and Blog Posts

Hi - can you post code in assembler or C showing how to change baud rate, bits etc on the serial port? Thanks I spent some time looking at the AVR code that emulates the 8080 and trying to figure this out. It looks like with the current firmware it can't be done in 8080 assembler code as it doesn't...

Schematic for RAM Disk Board?

Unlike the rest of the Altair 8800, the CD doesn't include a schematic for the RAM disk board. Could that be made available? I don't have a pressing need for it, but I would be interested in seeing it to better understand how the hardware works. The T* utilities (TREAD, TWRITE, etc.) also don't seem...

Vince, any update on the next batch of systems? Last I heard was that the panels were in production as of Sept 30th.

Re: Proto Board?

The Vector 4112-4 board I used worked fine but it was expensive. See http://jefftranter.blogspot.ca/2012/05/16k-memory-board-is-complete.html There is also a guy developing a proto board as well as some other Apple 1 boards here: http://www.harrowalsh.de/Elektronik/APPLEBOX/appleboxApple1expansions....

Re: Status of Altair 8800 4th batch?

Vince, can you clarify: will this new batch have the serial port included or will it just have the ability to install the serial port option at a later date with an extra add-on board?
