Serial woes

Postby asm2750 » Jul Tue 31, 2007 6:32 pm

my serial connection doesn't seem to be working, I followed the directions in the manual but I still don't get an output from my Micro-KIM, are there any steps to go about to troubleshoot the problem? All in all this project has been fun and entertaining, but typing an entire program like say micro chess would probably not be fun :D

Are you using a straight cable connected to the Micro-KIM and not a null modem cable? Any missing or cold solder spots?

I'm using a straight cable, and everything seems to be soldered properly. The connection works properly when I use Kermit (a non gui hyperterminal) in linux with just a streight cable and no USB<->RS232 converter.

Yet somehow just using the USB<->RS232 cable doesn't work in windows.
