Tape dump weirdness

Postby pjustice » Apr Wed 30, 2008 7:40 am

So I built my kim at VCF over the weekend, and it worked the first try. Didn't have time to do any programming to speak of at the show. When I got home, I wrote my first kim program, entered it using the keypad, got it working. Then I turned my attention to serial loading and saving, having had plenty enough of entering hex through the keypad for a while. :)

Here's an attempt to dump a block of memory from the kim, taken straight from the manual:

KIM
17F8 00 17F7
17F7 00 00.
17F8 00 03.
17F9 00 0200
0200 00 Q
;18

I get nothing after ";18", and have to reset the board to revive it.

I imagine I'm doing something boneheaded here. Someone whack me with the cluestick please?

Thanks,

Try this, power up the uKIM into the monitor and just type Q enter and see what happens. It should dump a default amount of memory out. If it doesn't, there's something wrong with the EPROM code.

If it works, try your dump again and make sure to verify the contents of those addresses before you dump. Not sure why

That does much the same:

Code: Select all
KIM
EFFF FF Q
;0000000000

I'll look into downloading the binary file and re-burning the EEPROM.

The KIM-1 does not set the binary/decimal flag by default.

Set the CPU to binary by entering 0 at address F1
