mechanical stability of front panel

Postby no0207 » Nov Tue 06, 2012 2:10 pm

The switches in the micro kit are delivered with a pair of nuts on them. However on all the photos of built micros I have seen so far these nuts are never mounted. I still wonder if the front panel has enough mechanical stability without making use of them - toggling the switches must impose some forces on the soldering points and on the glued distance holders. I still keep the nuts in a plastic bag, not really sure if it would be better to install them. Any opinions on that - or maybe experiences from users who have used the switches a lot?

(maybe I sense a problem where there is no real problem...)

As I remember it my kit did not include the toggle switch nuts. I have a very early kit so that may be the reason. I too questioned the stability of the mounted switches as one can notice when a switch is toggled it moves. So far no problems have been reported by anyone so it may not be an issue?
