VCF East May 5th and 6th

Postby vbriel » May Wed 02, 2012 11:08 am

While I can't make it out there this year for the VCF East show, I recomend this show to anybody who is interested in vintage machines. You see something new (err.. old) every time out.

Look for flyers for Briel Computers to save on kits!

Hi Vince,
This was my first VCF and I found it very interesting. I purchased a minimalist computer kit from Herb Johnson, the COSMAC 1802 Membership Card designed by Lee Hart seen here http://www.retrotechnology.com/memship/mem_features.html. I bought a non working Commodore 64 for $10 for parts as I wanted a nice keyboard for other projects and the keyboard was very clean. BTW, I looked for your flyers & I did not see them. I talked to Bill Degnan & he wasn't aware that you sent any.

Did you see a replica 1 on display? It was going to be there at one of the exhibits.

Hi Vince,
I saw a Apple 1 display which was pretty crowded. They were running a contest with a Lunar Lander or similar game that seemed pretty popular. The board they were running it on was under plexiglass and said that it was hand built by ?? (the Cohens, possibly). It was possibly a Replica 1. I must have missed your flyers as admittedly I did not spend much time at that booth due to the difficulty in getting close to the display. They were also selling ROM boards to turn the Apple ][ in a Apple 1 work alike. While I realize the significance of the Apple 1, I don't have any real interest in them so it wasn't worth waiting my turn to take an up close look. Sorry I missed your flyers but thanks on letting me know why I missed them.
Regards,
Jeff

Found out that Evan has them. Ask Evan for one.

Hi Vince,
I only saw Evan for about 5 minutes around 3pm Saturday as he was busy clearing the crowd for a large computer system that just showed up by truck (better late than never) . I had other plans for Sunday so I did not attend the VCF. Was the flyer in question just for Replica 1 kits or for discounts on other kits like the Kim-1? Can you tell me what discount I missed?
