FIG-FORTH on the Micro-kim, my very first run

Postby powersoft » Apr Thu 26, 2012 2:32 pm

Dear All

Today at last I received by mail my micro-kim with memory extension.

Vice you have done a very nice job with this kit. :D

Some test done, ant this afternoon an by my own compiled version of fig forth loaded and running.

It runs perfect. Do some test and the forth is working well. (The Forth is with us!!) :D

Try out also to load an external written program, and this read with my terminal program (running at 2400 baud with 2 stop bits).

Perhaps it a good idea to start on this forum a kind of micro-kim forth forum to exchange idea's and knowledge.

Because it was for me a long time ago to work with forth (1975 an a PET) I will start with the clock program to run it in Forth.

I hope on a lot of reactions at this forum.

Great idea, I've decided to move this on top of the forum to keep it going. Perhaps people can post links for those of us (me included) who have not used Forth and want to get started.

Good to see FIG-Forth running on the Micro-Kim! Back in the day, I made a living programming control systems with Forth embedded in a 6502 - an R65F11 chip. It really was a language suited to that chip. I'm looking forward to getting involved in this Real Soon Now. (I'm giving my kids a chance to get me the Micro-Kim for father's day.)
In the meantime, I'll see if I can start collecting pointers to useful sites.
Keep up the Good Work!

Digging through my books, I've managed to locate some old FIG documentation including 'fig-Forth Installation Manual, Glossary/Model/Editor - Release 1', Doctor Dobbs Toolbook of Forth, Forth Dimension magazines from 1983, and the Fig-Forth 78 and 79 Handy Reference Cards !!! I'll attach a scan of the Fig 79 card in case it can be of any help.

Hello,

I'm working now on a integration of the 6502 assembler in forth.
When finish I will put an upgraded papertape file on the board.

I am interesting in "DR DOBS TOOLBOOK OF FORTH"

and also looking for a copy of "TINY PASCAL COMPILER IN FIG-FORTH"
This looks nice to include in the MK.

Look forward to any respose

Cheers,

Jan

Does anyone have fig-forth in a KIM paper tape format ?
---
Update, I forgot about the kimpaper utility. After compiling it for my Linux box, I was able to covert the 6502K.BIN to a .pap file and install it.
